So, make some sandwiches and get your blanket and picnic basket ready because these 4 beautiful picnic spots in eclectic Chicago are waiting for you!

Have a bonfire picnic at the Promontory Point

Here at WhirlyBall, we like nothing more than a nice fire pit right near Lake Michigan. And, yes, these beauties line the coast at Promontory Point! Exciting, right?

The Point is the perfect location for a nice picnic with friends and family. The views are gorgeous, there are plenty of prime hammock hanging spots, and there are also a lot of activities offered since it’s just a short walk from a sandy beach.

What’s not to love?

Get closer to nature at Humboldt Park

This is one of the city’s most peaceful parks and it has some great spots for picnics, such as near the lagoon, close to one of its many playgrounds, or right in the gardens. And if you love sports and working out, then this is definitely the right place for you, especially if you play softball or baseball, as there are friendly competitions at Humboldt Park every summer.

Check out the views at North Pond Nature Sanctuary

Not far from the lakefront, North Pond Nature Sanctuary is definitely one of our favorite places for a picnic in Chicago. This spot offers the ultimate contrast between nature and city since it’s lush with greenery but still right in the heart of Chicago.

Jump out of your comfort zone and hit the LaBagh Woods

Finally, the woods might not be inside the city itself, but they’re definitely worth the trip. Closer to the suburbs than to downtown Chicago, LaBagh Woods is a peaceful spot that will make you feel like you’re miles away from the city. And not only can you picnic there, but you can also bike and hike, which is great if you love being active!

So, for the next cloudy day, come play some WhirlyBall with us and when the sun comes back out go for a picnic to enjoy nature at it’s finest!
